*Wood is a natural product and most hardwoods have open grain, which allows the boards to expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity. Even solid wood furniture with protective finishes can experience movement from time to time. This can be especially noticeable in furniture with plank-tops and breadboard ends.

Breadboard ends do not expand/contract in the same direction of the main planks due to the grains running opposite in directions. This could create an offset between the planks and the ends. This is not something to be alarmed over, as you may see the table go through the expanding/contracting cycle as the seasons change. This is not a defect in the material or an issue with the workmanship; it is the result of the natural movement of the wood. We recommend keeping your humidity between 35-40% to minimize these effects.

With this in mind, breadboard-end furniture cannot be returned due to expanding/contracting.

Morgan Computer Desk

Mixing beauty with functionality, our Morgan Computer Desk evokes an ageless charm. All thanks to its sturdy hardwood construction and beautifully integrated breadboard ends into the one-inch-thick desktop. You can’t miss noticing the striking Yellowheart ginkgo leaf and arrow inlays on both the pedestals and the desktop. Every item from the Morgan Office collection looks like a showpiece item. And they’re all handcrafted with care by Amish craftsman using quality domestic hardwoods.

Durable hardwoods such as cherry, Q. S. white oak, brown maple, and oak are used, making each of our Amish desks hard-wearing and heirloom-worthy. Measuring 65-inches wide, you get enough surface space to place your computer as well as spread out your project files. The left pedestal has two file drawers to help you stay organized throughout the day. The right pedestal has a vertical door inside which you can keep your computer CPU. The slide-out keyboard tray in the center provides convenient access to your keyboard.

The Morgan Computer Desk shown above is built in Quarter Sawn White Oak with one of our burnished stains, but is also available in various wood and stain color options. Choose your favorite combination from our menu so we can handcraft yours to your expectations. You can do this by selecting your favorite hardwood and stain from the palette menus above and adding the product to the custom quote cart.

Common Furniture Product Questions

Amish Outlet Store receives many commonly asked questions about our furniture. Browse our FAQs to learn more about furniture options, production, shipping and more. If your question is not answered below, please contact us online or call 1-800-217-6999 for further information.

While most of the products at Amish Outlet Store are no-assembly furniture, some furniture categories have pieces requiring some assembly. The furniture type determines whether you’ll need to assemble any components.

All tables and beds require some level of assembly to complete. Components such as headboards, frames and table legs may need to be assembled when you receive your new dining table or bed. Many other items do not require any assembly, including most smaller furniture such as coffee tables and end tables.

Amish Outlet Store offers many furniture customization options to make your furniture your own. Every product is made to order using high-quality solid woods.

You can choose the wood type and finish for virtually any furniture piece based on the options listed on the product page. Other customizations vary by piece. Some builders customize nearly any aspect of the furniture, whereas others only offer limited changes.

Here are some common alterations our customers make for their custom furniture:

  • Increase or decrease the dimensions
  • Add or remove doors and shelves
  • Reverse the furniture layout
  • Add locks, grommets or more cord holes
  • Replace wooden doors with glass
  • Add electrical outlets and lighting

You can discuss your furniture customization with us before or after submitting a custom quote by contacting us online or by phone.

One of the most common customizations includes choosing the wood type and finish listed on the product page. Amish Outlet Store will need more details about other customizations you’d like to make. Here is what to expect when ordering furniture online:

  1. Our customer service representative will ask for the exact details of the changes you want to make to your furniture, including the dimensions.
  2. Amish Outlet Store will work with the builder to see if they can make the changes.
  3. Your project will move forward if the builder can make the custom changes. If not, we’ll help you determine which customizations work best for you.

The customization options vary by the builder. You can expect custom furniture to take longer to complete.
